It turns out that the new head of the European Central Bank is another alumnus of the MIT economics department. However, since he got his Ph.D in 1976, he and I did not overlap. The friend who pointed this out said that several months ago there were those who thought that Draghi might become Prime Minister of Italy. So, which impossible job would you prefer?

MIT alums at the head of both Greece and the ECB. As a Caltech alum, I wish them well, but I’m accelerating my preparations for a European collapse.

Given that the chance of failure is 100%, is the choice really where would you rather eat expensive lunches and dinners: Rome or Frankfurt? The answer is Rome.
